Atlantic Buffet in front of the Highway 5 Wal-Mart in Douglasville, and located at 7090 Concourse Parkway, is expanding their building.
Atlantic Buffet took over the building that was originally a Ryan's Steak House. The event was celebrated with a grand opening and Douglas County Chamber ribbon-cutting, on Oct. 5, 2011.
According to information available online, the restaurant offers its customers "spacious all-you-can-eat buffet of Chinese and Japanese fare, plus desserts and a few American bites."
Atlantic Buffet is an international food buffet with an open kitchen that features fresh foods, vegetables, sushi bar and desserts. With more than 300 items on the menu, the buffet offers American, Chinese and Japanese cuisine creating a meal suitable for any guest.
The Douglasville City Council Planning and Development Committee approved the plans a few weeks ago, according to Douglasville City Building Official Mike Mettler.
Contacted recently by phone, Mettler said the expansion will add some additional seating capacity and more flexibility to the space.
"They are currently expanding their operation to include a banquet area," Mettler said.
The plans approved will allow for an area that can be used for private functions without affecting the public area, Mettler said.
According to contractor Lee Powers, also contacted by phone, the renovation will bring the total space to over 2,500 square feet.
The renovation is already underway, Mettler said, and completion is expected to be early in 2018, but the restaurant will not need to close during the renovations.
Atlantic Buffet is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Fridays through Sunday.
