Man catches 16.56-pound striped bass at Sweetwater

Brandon Black didn't have to exaggerate the size of the fish he caught in the George Sparks Reservoir at Sweetwater Creek State Park recently. He caught a 31 1/2 inch, 16.56-pound striped bass, which is usually not found in the lake, according to Park Manager David Jordan. He said the "striper" is usually found in North Georgia lakes where it stays much cooler. Jordan said the striped bass, which is known to eat other fish, may have come from the 2009 flood, but it is more likely that as birds migrated, they brought the fish eggs with them.
