The Punchline’s Comedy Night at The Mill will be held Saturday, May 23, on the Thomas A. Dorsey Stage, from 8 to 10 p.m. at no cost to the public.

“Enjoy three professional comedians as they bring family-friendly humor to the Thomas Dorsey stage,” said Kimberly Stovall, Villa Rica’s community relations spokesperson. “The laughs are free! As always, you are encouraged to come early and spend time in our city, browse our shops and have lunch or dinner at our quaint eateries.

“Comedy Night is one of our most popular events,” Stovall adds. “It attracts guests who are looking for good, clean fun. Because of its popularity, a second Comedy Night is scheduled for Saturday, August 22.”

Meet the Comedians

Jamie Bendall is owner of The Punchline and Host Comedian at The Mill.

A lawyer, car dealer, and comedy club owner walks into a bar... That’s not the set up for a joke, it’s actually just the correct introduction for local comic and renaissance business man, Jamie Bendall. Whether performing at a corporate event or at his own club, Bendall makes sure that of the businesses he’s involved in, first and foremost, he’s in the business of laughter. He runs Atlanta’s most senior comedy club, and in the process, has carved a nice little niche for himself in the clean, white-collar world of joke telling.

A professional comedian and speaker for more than 23 years, Jamie is a parent, spouse, and busy small business owner admitted to practice law in three states (GA, MA, NY). He owns The Punchline Comedy Club — one of the country’s top ten comedy clubs, and has been a landmark in Atlanta since 1982.

Steve Mingolla – Feature Comedian

Steve Mingolla really is a nice guy. Birmingham News labeled him as “a definite burst of New York attitude mixed in with a bit of Southern hospitality.” Steve began his career at the world famous Comedy Store in Hollywood, California over twenty years ago. He has performed at comedy clubs, civic auditoriums, theaters, corporate events, charities, colleges, cruise ships, benefits and military installations in Europe. Though many comics are quite successful through the use of explicit language, Steve is a clean act. His stories are peppered with characters and voices covering a slew of topics, which gives his show a universal appeal. Steve has also appeared on numerous TV commercials, syndicated radio shows, TNN, Comedy Central, Showtime, PBS and Comcast Comedy on Demand. Steve currently lives in Atlanta, with his wife, kids, dogs, fishes and a turtle.

Rik Roberts – Headliner

Rik Roberts spent his youth in Kentucky working on tobacco and horse farms. His interest in becoming the next Tom Brokaw – or perhaps host of Saturday Night Live – inspired him to chase after a college education. After earning a degree in communications from Bethany College, Rik worked for Simon & Schuster in Columbus, OH. He joined a nationally touring comedy troupe “Midwest Comedy Tool & Die [MCTD] in 1992. Shortly thereafter, he decided to jump head first into stand-up comedy. He now has more than twenty years of headlining experience across the United States and abroad. His comedy is 100% clean and appropriate for each audience. He’s appeared in his own episode of the award winning BANANAS COMEDY SHOW which features the nation’s top “clean” comedians. Believing that the world needs more clean comedy, Rik teaches comedy writing workshops across the country and online through his “School of Laughs.” Rik spends his time off stage writing comedy songs – many of which are aired daily on SiriusXM radio’s LaughUSA and Blue Collar Radio channels. Of his seven comedy Cds, two are still available for purchase on RikRoberts.com. His love of all thing country led to him being featured on CMT’s “20 Greatest Redneck Moments.” He also was a writer and performer on “The Henry Cho Comedy Show” on Great American Country. Rik is a proud father of two and happy husband at home in Nashville.

Event sponsors are: Scott Evans Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Nissan and Villa Rica Tourism.
