A teenager is now in the Douglas County Jail after an alleged online transaction gone wrong.
Shortly after 1 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, Ronnie Odell, 18, robbed a victim at gunpoint near the intersection of Thornton Road and Interstate West Parkway. Odell previously agreed to meet the victim to sell an Apple Watch, Maj. J.R. Davidson said.
Officers from the Douglasville Police Department, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and Cobb County Police Department responded to the robbery and set up a perimeter in the area. During the search, a deputy from the sheriff’s office and an officer from DPD found Odell hiding in a dumpster at a nearby business, according to DPD.
The victim was not injured in the robbery, Davidson said.
The department advised anyone who wants to buy a product online and schedule an exchange in the county to do so at Douglasville Police Headquarters or the sheriff’s office, both located off Fairburn Road.
Odell made his initial appearance in Douglas County Magistrate Court and was denied bond.
