The annual Douglasville Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony is set for this Friday, Dec. 1 downtown.
The parade begins at 6:30 p.m. and the tree lighting and other festivities will follow. The parade will run east to west along Church Street from roughly the Regions Bank location at Campbellton Street to the Old Jail near Rose Avenue.
Main Street Douglasville Manager April McKown said she recommends watching the parade from O’Neal Plaza for the best views.
The theme of this year’s parade is “Miracle on Main Street.”
“We are excited about this year’s Christmas festivities in downtown Douglasville that will once again include snow, free photos with Santa, live reindeer, and vendors,” said Community Development Manager Patrice R. Williams. “But what is even more exciting is the addition of four Douglas County high school bands in this year’s parade.”
The parade will include the usual array of lighted Christmas floats. Santa Claus will be the featured guest in the parade and throughout the night of family fun.
Attendees can watch the lighting of the tree ceremony, a ‘snowy surprise,’ musical/dance performances, live reindeer, vendors, children’s activities and more.
“The Main Street Douglasville Program looks forward to hosting this event each year,” said McKown. “This event further supports our mission of promoting downtown Douglasville, while creating memories for the citizens and visitors of Douglasville.”
