The city of Douglasville's Human and Resources Department hosted a car wash fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen Foundation on Monday. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The car wash ran from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and was on the top deck of the parking deck downtown. The event also featured free food and Douglasville Parks and Recreation employee Chris Brooks as the live DJ for the day.

"It has been an excellent turnout," Douglasville Human Resources Director Teaa Allston said. "The weather is nice and our employees like to volunteer their time. We have a wellness committee that helped brainstorm what we wanted to do this year, so a lot of our volunteers are from the wellness committee as well as other employees from around the city."

One of the department's priorities in the near future remains health and wellness, Allston said.
