Keep Douglasville Beautiful and the city of Douglasville will host a Mosquito Awareness Seminar on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Ike Owings Community Center at Hunter Memorial Park on Gurley Road in Douglasville.
A representative from the Environmental Health Section of the Georgia Department of Public Health will talk about how citizens can reduce the mosquito population in their yard and prevent disease from mosquitoes.
Participants will learn about the biology of mosquitoes, the diseases they carry what can be done to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes and discuss the most effective ways to control adult mosquitoes and minimize their presence.
The seminar is free and the public is invited.

Special Olympics planned for March 29 at NMHS
The Douglas County Special Olympics are scheduled for Thursday, March 29, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at New Manchester High School, 4925 Highway 92/166 in Douglasville.
The event includes track and field events for individuals with special needs in Douglas County. The Special Olympics are open to the public and admission is free. Citizens are encouraged to help fill the stands with cheering fans. This event is weather permitting. The rain date is Tuesday, April 10.

Church hosting brunch, craft bazaar
The Refuge for Women Atlanta is holding a Spring Brunch and Craft Bazaar at West Metro Church of God in Douglasville Saturday, April 14. The doors open at 9:30 a.m. and brunch begins at 10:30. Those interested may purchase a table or individual tickets. The craft bazaar is open to the public from 12-3 p.m.
