A man charged with one count of murder made his initial court appearance in front of Chief Superior Court Judge David T. Emerson on Wednesday morning.

Roger Mills, 20, is accused of killing Mashato Garrett on Dec. 23 around 7 p.m.

Mills repeatedly shot Garrett on Waterton Trail in Douglasville, according to the arrest warrant. Jail records show Mills was arrested Dec. 24.

Law enforcement officers are also looking for another shooter involved in the case who fled the scene, according to the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office. The second suspect's name remains undisclosed pending his arrest.

Mills is currently being held in the Douglas County Jail. His bond was denied by Emerson at Wednesday’s hearing.
