No students or passengers were on board a school bus involved in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon, according to Douglas County School System spokeswoman Portia Lake.

The accident happened on Highway 5 at the intersection of Wenona Street in Douglasville in front of Sonic Drive In.

DCSS Transportation Director Andy Micacchione said the accident was caused by another driver who pulled in front of a car that was in front of the school bus, according to Lake. The impact caused both cars to spin, with one car ultimately spinning into the school bus.

Law enforcement did not cite the school bus driver, Lake said.

"It has been determined that the bus driver is not at fault," Lake said. "Police at the scene say the accident was 'unavoidable.'"

The Douglas County bus driver is safe and uninjured, Lake said.

Both car drivers received medical attention after the accident, Lake said.

All vehicles suffered extensive damage, according to Lake.
