Two people were killed and three others were critically injured in an accident in Lithia Springs Saturday night.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was in active pursuit of a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Thornton Road southbound from Interstate 20, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
The driver failed to yield to the emergency equipment of the deputy, ran a red light at Thornton Road and Riverside Parkway and struck the side of a tractor trailer that was traveling through the intersection, according to the GSP. The crash happened at about 7:45 p.m. Saturday.
The driver of the vehicle and the front passenger died in the collision. Three passengers, all juveniles, were taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite with critical injuries.
Cpl. John Trawick on Monday identified the driver who was killed in the accident as 30-year-old Billy Frazier of Atlanta. Trawick released the names of the juveniles Tuesday.
Trawick said 10-year-old Quemontae Frazier, who was a passenger in the front seat, was also killed.
The three juveniles in the back seat taken to Scottish Rite were 6-year-old Chasten Frazier, 5-year-old Promise Frazier and 3-year-old Raven Burston.
The GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team conducted a follow-up investigation.
