A local woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Douglasville.
The accident happened at about 5:15 p.m. on Stewart Parkway just south of Douglas Boulevard, Douglasville Police Maj. J.R. Davidson said.
Shannon Bright Garrison, 47, was pronounced dead at the scene after the SUV she was a passenger in left the road and struck a tree, Davidson said.
The driver of the SUV was identified by Davidson as 38-year-old Penny Bright. Bright was taken to the hospital, but Davidson said police did not have any information on injuries she may have suffered.
Davidson said no charges have been filed against Bright pending conclusion of the investigation.
Davidson said the two women are sisters have ties to Douglasville.
