Mr. Franklin Delano Raper, age 84, of Douglasville, passed away Monday, February 12, 2018. He was born in McMinn County, Tennessee, on June 13, 1933, the son of the late Ernest Raper and the late Moncie Carder Raper. Mr. Raper was a Truck Driver and a Mechanic. He was a member and a Deacon of Sunnyside Baptist Church in Lithia Springs. He was also a 30+ year Mason with Battle Hill Lodge #523 F.&A.M.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son: Jack Payne; his daughter: Gail Webb; and his sister: Lillian Friend.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Ruby Mae Macon Raper of Douglasville; daughters and sons-in-law: Rita & Tim Thompson of Villa Rica, Deborah & Kenny Heath of Lithia Springs, and Sandra McEver of Douglasville; sisters and brothers-in-law: Ernestine and Dallas Godfrey of Acworth, Gloria Jean Ingram and Joe Whitmire of Acworth, and Bo and John F. Kennedy of Marietta; brother: Fred Raper of Cedartown; sister-in-law: Gaynell Standridge of Roswell; grandchildren and spouses: Tabiatha and Shae Tallent, Toby and Jodie Thompson, Jennifer and Bob Scribner, Kevin McGouirk, Todd and Ashleigh Thompson, P.J. and Candice McEver, Kim and Justin Cox, Billy Heath, and MacKenzie McGouirk; 25 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Hightower’s Memorial Chapel in Douglasville on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, from 5-8 p.m. and on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 10 a.m. until noon.

The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, February 15, 2018, at noon, at Hightower’s Memorial Chapel with Reverend Timmy Thompson, Reverend Shae Tallent, Reverend Todd Thompson, and Reverend Blake Tallent officiating.

Interment will follow in Mount Harmony Memorial Gardens in Mableton, with Randy Hood, Ronnie Hood, P.J. McEver, Randy Cheek, Benny Croft, and Andrew McGouirk serving as Pallbearers.
