Johnson Ferry Baptist Church will be the local collection site for Operation Christmas Child. Through Operation Christmas Child, the world’s largest Christmas project, Marietta residents can pack shoe box gifts for children in more than 100 countries suffering from war, natural disaster, terrorism, disease, famine and poverty. From Marietta, shoe box gifts will be sorted and sent using whatever means necessary – sea containers, trucks, trains, airplanes, boats, camels, even dog sleds – to reach suffering children around the world. Site collection times will be Nov. 16, 18 and 20, from 9 a.m. to noon; Nov. 17 and 19, from 5 to 8 p.m.; Nov. 21 and 23, from 9 to 11 a.m.; and Nov. 22, from 1 to 5 p.m. Contact Operation Christmas Child at (770) 777-9342 or www.samaritanspurse.org.
