A 14-year-old boy who stabbed his father on Tuesday has been released by the Youth Detention Center in Rome into the custody of another relative.
The boy has been charged with aggravated assault.
“First of all we have been informed that the father will be OK and he is expected to fully recover,” said Chief Deputy Brad Robinson of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. “This assault happened as a result of this juvenile intervening between his parents in a domestic dispute.”
When the 911 call was made Tuesday, dispatch was informed that a 49-year-old man was stabbed. When first responders had arrived, they found three stab wounds in the father.
“They had a detention hearing Thursday, in Juvenile Court and the juvenile has been released to another family member,” said Robinson. “I would expect that there has been ongoing issues with this family that I think the Juvenile Court will be able to step in and provide much-needed assistance.”
