A Carrollton woman died Wednesday when two cars collided on Highway 166 in Carroll County, the Georgia State Patrol said.

Krystal Denise Cox, 33, was driving her Mazda 6 westbound about 8:10 a.m. when she lost control of the vehicle.

According to the state patrol, the Mazda rotated clockwise and entered into the eastbound lanes facing south. An oncoming GMC pickup truck that was traveling eastbound, struck the passenger side of the Mazda. Cox’s car continued to rotate and finally stopped in the westbound lane.

The state patrol said Cox died at the scene of the crash. The GMC truck driver and his three passengers were taken to Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton with nonlife-threatening injuries.

The accident is still under investigation, the state patrol said.
