Another senior living community could be coming to Carrollton, pending approval from the City Council.
A rezoning request from CRN Development, LLC is seeking to rezone 9.93 acres of land at 170 Highway 113 from general commercial to neighborhood commercial with the Senior Housing Floating Zone.
If approved, 102 senior housing rental units will be constructed for residents ages 55 and over. The property is said to have been vacant and available for development for 15 years.
Another item set for Monday’s agenda is a resolution of support for the city of Carrollton’s Recreational Trails Grant application to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
Community Development Director Erica Studdard said the city is applying for funding assistance for a trail spur form the Carrollton GreenBelt from the trail near Tanner Medical Center into downtown Carrollton.
The application deadline for the grant is Jan. 2, 2018.
“Funding for this grant cycle is limited to $200,000 and will require a $50,000 match from the city, should the project be awarded the maximum grant amount,” said Studdard. “The city is currently utilizing Recreational Trail Grant funds for the Alabama Street trailhead. If this grant is awarded to the city, it will be the third RTP grant the city has received.”
