A man witnesses said was firing a handgun in a parking lot at the SOMA apartment complex in Carrollton was arrested Saturday.
Officers were called to SOMA Building I at 10:30 a.m. following reports of shots fired. Witnesses told police they saw a male in the parking lot firing a handgun. Officers arrived and tried to speak with the suspect, but he ran back into the apartment building on Hay’s Mill Road.
The suspect was identified as 21-year-old Micah Davonn Hairston of Carrollton.
“He did this one other time so officers were not sure if someone had been shot or what the man was doing,” said Carrollton police Capt. Shannon Cantrell. “He refused to come outside and come to the door, so after some time we made contact with him over the phone and we were able to talk to him into coming outside with two other individuals.”
Police said no one was harmed.
“I think the guys were firing off a gun in the parking lot, just being dumb, but right now we have the three individuals at the police department for questioning and we are still investigating the scene,” Cantrell said.
Police arrested Hairston, who lived at apartment I-2 of SOMA, for reckless conduct and obstruction. A handgun was recovered inside the apartment by police.
