Alvada Newell Henderson departed this life on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, in Bowdon, Georgia.

Alvada was born on January 24, 1934, in Carroll County, Georgia, to the late Fred D. Newell and Addie Lee Smith Newell. She worked at Bremen-Bowdon Investment Company until she retired. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Henry Akers Henderson on February 28, 1951. To this union nine children were born. She received Jesus Christ as her personal savior and joined the Bowdon Church of God and Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Akers Henderson; her daughter, Wanda Conley; her granddaughter, Daniell Rose McCoullough; and four sisters and four brothers.

Mourning her passing, yet rejoicing her memories, are her children, Rose Tyler, Nadine (Frederick) Henley, Cynthia Johnson, and Douglas Henderson, all of Carrollton, Georgia, Shelia (Maxie) Boyd, Scarlet Henderson, and Ricky Henderson, all of Bowdon, Georgia, and Tammy Smith of Atlanta, Georgia; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren; her three sisters, Wilma Jean Stephens, Zelma Walker, and Dorothy Berry; her brother, MarJay Newell; her sisters-in-law, Lavogne Newell and Opal Newell; and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Homegoing services will be held on Monday, October 16, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Bowdon Church of God and Christ on New Hope Road in Bowdon, Georgia. Elder Noah Rosser will officiate. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, October 15, 2017, from 4 p.m. till 7 p.m.
