Mr. Benjamin Thomas “Tommy” Jones of Ranburne, Alabama, passed away on Jan. 29, 2018. He was 68. Mr. Jones was born on June 4, 1949, in Bowdon, Georgia, to the late Howard and Louise Smith Jones.

He was a mechanical engineer and was retired from Amaco Fabrics and Fibers and the Douglas County Water and Sewer Authority. Mr. Jones served on the Cleburne County Board of Education, the Ranburne City Council, and was a member of the Gideons in Cleburne County. He was a dedicated member of Ranburne First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and served as a Deacon. He was a loyal servant to his community and to the Lord. He enjoyed working outdoors, gardening, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Charlene Jones; his children Tephanie (Jason) Merrill and Shadd (Amy) Jones; his grandchildren, Peyton and Julianna Merrill and Cason and Stella Grace Jones; his sisters, Sara Newport and Emily Sue (John) Pezold; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, at 3 p.m. (Alabama Time) at Ranburne First Baptist Church. Rev. James Benefield and Rev. Lonnie Skinner will officiate. Interment will follow at Cleburne Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Ranburne First Baptist Church on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. (Alabama Time).
