Charles (Charlie) L. Vaughn, formerly of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, from complications of diabetes.

Charles was born in Carrollton, Georgia, on May 11, 1938, to Elizabeth A. and Hughey S. Vaughn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hughey S. Vaughn; his brother, Robert H. Vaughn; sisters, Linda Vaughn Driver and Charlotte Ann Vaughn; and a son, Brian Camp.

He is survived by a daughter, Erica Hall of South Carolina, and his sister, Mary Vaughn Tuggle of Augusta, Georgia. Charlie is also survived by nieces and nephews who thought “Uncle Charlie” was just the best uncle with the biggest heart anyone could have. He will be missed by all.

Charles is remembered for his deep love of music, especially the Pedal Steel Guitar. He was presented with many awards, including recipient of the Legends of Steel Guitar Association and the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Lowell Opry House with Mark Lyle and George Britt.
