Gloria Christine Deegan, 80, of Fairfield Plantation, Villa Rica, Georgia, died Sunday, December 24, 2017, at her residence following an extended illness.

She was born in Savannah, Georgia, on October 18, 1937, the daughter of the late Roy Ernest Loncon and the late Rita Mae Edgerley Loncon. She was a 1956 graduate of St. Vincent’s Academy in Savannah, lived in Smyrna for several years, and moved to this area in December 1973. She was an LPN and worked for many years in Healthcare and in later years, she became an agent in the real estate business and enjoyed that profession for a number of years before her retirement.

She loved angels and had a vast and beautiful collection which she had acquired over the years. Gloria was an artist and enjoyed many enjoyable and pleasant hours with her beautiful paintings. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Carrollton, was a former Sunday School Teacher and was very active in the church work as long as her health permitted. She lived a full and very active life, was always dedicated to her loving family, enjoyed her many friends and lived and enjoyed life to its fullest. She will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daugher, Elizabeth Marie Deegan Cashen; two sons, William Carter Deegan Jr. and Patrick Joseph Deegan; and a brother, Roy E. Loncon Jr.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, William “Bill” Carter Deegan, Sr. of Villa Rica; a daughter, Deborah Renee Brady and her husband, Alan, of Sharpsburg, Georgia; a son, John Edward Deegan of Villa Rica; son-in-law, Lawrence “Larry” Vincent Cashen of Stokesdale, North Carolina; sisters, Bonnie Parker of Dallas, Georgia, and Virginia “Ginger” Marie Smith and her husband, Jonathan, of Atlanta; 11 grandchildren, Thomas Brady, Sarah Brady, Andrew Brady, Eve Cashen, Katie Cashen Hornsby and her husband, Bryant, Joseph Deegan, William Carter Deegan III, Kaitlyn Amanda Deegan, John Edward Deegan III, Victoria Kristine Deegan and Gabriel “Gabe” Deegan; four great-grandchildren, Jasmine Deegan, Gloria Deegan, Payton Deegan and Joseph “Cash” Hornsby; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening, December 27, 2017, from 5-7 p.m. with the Rosary to follow at 7 p.m.

Memorial Mass will be held Thursday morning, December 28, 2017, at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Mario Lopez officiating. Burial of the cremains will follow in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 210 Old Center Point Road, Carrollton, GA 30117.
