Mr. James Emory Marlow of Bowdon, Georgia died December 21, 2017. He was 97.

Mr. Marlow was born on August 30, 1920, in Bowdon to the late Charlie and Ruthie Mae Marlow.

He was a retired business owner having owned and operated Marlow Furniture for many years. He also raised cattle and operated a family farm. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Joey Young; his son-in-law, Joe Young; and his sister, Dorothy Arthur.

Survivors include his wife of 76 years, Wilma Marlow; his daughter, Myric Young; his son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Patsy Marlow; five grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-law, Chester and Edith Marlow; and his sister, Ima Dell Gentry.

Funeral services were Saturday, December 23, at 1 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church. The Rev. Donald Voyles and the Rev. Tony McManus officiated. His granddaughter, Christie Eidson, offered a eulogy. Music was by Regina Jones. Pallbearers were Chuck Young, Keith Young, Amos Young, Will Young, Jeffrey Marlow, Matt Eidson, and Jacob Turner. Mr. Marlow’s great-grandsons served as honorary pallbearers. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
