Mr. James McArthur “Mack” Hooper, age 74, of Villa Rica, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 29, 2017. He was born April 19, 1943, in Moultrie, Georgia, the son of the late Weldon Hooper and the late Bertha Mae Rhodes Hooper.

He retired from Pep Boys in 2008 and had served as an Umpire with the USSSA for 30 years. He was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1996. He volunteered with the Special Olympics as a Unified Partner and enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, and traveling. He was a member of Liberty Christian Church in Temple, Georgia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Jeanette J. Hooper and his son, James (Jimmy) Hooper.

Survivors include his loving companion of seven years, Hilda Chambers; children, Teresa and Joshua Williams of Villa Rica, Georgia and Tracey and Luke Young of Carrollton; and five grandchildren, Skyler McKinly Hooper, Ashton Grey Hooper, Jonah Jax Williams, Patricia McKinley Williams, and Kaylin D. Young. In addition, he is survived by six great-grandchildren of the heart.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 31, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with the Rev. Phillip Wynne, the Rev. Jeff Williams, and Mr. Joshua Williams officiating. Those serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Defrees, Michael White, Eric Leonard, Randy Young, Rhett Parson, Richard Sanders, Jake Shelton and Christopher White. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens.

The family received friends for visitation at Martin & Hightower on Saturday from 5 p.m. until 8p.m.
