Jimmy Cheatwood of Buchanan passed away Friday, Feb. 23, 2018. He was born in Haralson County, Aug. 19, 1943, son of the late John Alton Cheatwood and Myrtle Irene Perry Cheatwood.

Mr. Cheatwood retired from Lockheed in 1999 after 37 years of service. He worked as the ITS Department Manager. Mr Cheatwood was a member of the Tallapoosa East Baptist Church and a 1961 graduate of Buchanan High School.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Cheatwood.

Survivors include his wife, Kaye Walden Cheatwood of Buchanan; two sons and a daughter-in-law, John Mitchell Cheatwood of Buchanan, James Thad and April Cheatwood of Buchanan; four grandchildren, Samantha “Sam” Cheatwood of Buchanan, Skylar Cheatwood of Buchanan, Tyler and Jessica Cheatwood of Rockmart and Rheana Cheatwood of Rockmart; two sisters-in-law, Judy Cheatwood of Cedartown, JoAnn and Kenneth Shadrix of Carrollton; a niece, Amberly and Tracey Gordon of Carrollton; a nephew, Chad and Christine Cheatwood of California; and cousins, Glenda Smith of Buchanan and Karen and Joe Jones of Buchanan.

The family will receive friends at Tallapoosa East Baptist Church Sunday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Services will be Monday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m. from Tallapoosa East Baptist Church with the Rev. Mason Bush and the Rev. Richard Brannon officiating. Music will be furnished by Bernard Whitton and Macy Brannon. Roy Williams, Ronnie Williams, Wade Williams, Clay Bell, Mark Bush and Barry Redding will serve as pallbearers. The following gentlemen will serve as honorary pallbearers, Tab Willis, Bobby Boalch, Ray Smith, Garland Robinson, Jimmy Davis, Danny Crook, Donnie Boswell and Kenneth Spearman. Interment will follow in Brannon Perryman Cemetery.
