Mrs. Joyce Pace, age 84, of Smyrna passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at Gateway Gardens, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2017, in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment at 4 p.m. at Veal Community Cemetery in Roopville, Georgia. The Rev. Jason Mincey will officiate.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017, at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pace was born January 3, 1933, to the late Johnny C. and Nettie E. Simmons in Atlanta. She was a member of King Spring Baptist Church and enjoyed reading, studying her Bible, crocheting, and most of all spending time with her family.

Mrs. Pace is survived by her daughter and son-in–law, Lynn and Henry Birdsong of Hoschton; daughter, Brenda Phillips of McDonough; grandchildren, Kyle and Sarah Phillips, Cameron Phillips and Anna and Brian McCoy; great-grandchildren, McKinley Phillips and Savannah Phillips; sister, Mary Cobb of Loxley, Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Horace Johnson Pace, her parents; son-in-law, Robert “Robbie” A. Phillips; sister, Ruth Simmons; and brother, David Simmons Sr.
