Ms. Julie Celeste McKenzie, age 59, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away Monday, October 17, 2016.

Ms. McKenzie was born in Carrollton, Georgia, on January 1, 1957, the daughter of Robert Shelton and the late Margaret Crawford Freeman. She was retired and a Christian by faith. “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” May we all find peace in those words at this time of bereavement. Ms. Julie McKenzie was an amazing woman. Strong in ways that you couldn’t imagine. Happy despite anything that happened to her. An amazing Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Daughter and Friend! Her laugh was contagious and when you were with her you could almost guarantee there would be laughter! She had an amazing sense of humor. She always dressed to impress. Her hair was always perfect. Makeup always done. She always looked amazing. Always late for everything, perfection takes time. She was a beautiful spirit.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, James and Stefanie McKenzie of Bremen; daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Phillip Swofford of Carrollton; father and his wife, Robert and Cathy Shelton of Carrollton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Marty and Donna Shelton of Carrollton, Jeff and Sonya Shelton of Carrollton, Rodney and Melanie Lawler of Bowdon; sister, Necoille Lawler of Bowdon; grandchildren, Ryan Swofford, Cole McKenzie and several nieces and nephews.
