Mrs. Lunell Davis “Nell” Thigpen, 82, of Carrollton, Georgia, died Friday, December 8, 2017. She was born May 20, 1935, in Newnan, Georgia, the daughter of the late Florrie Wood Bryce and the late Jim Bill Davis.

She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Joyful Hearts Sunday School Class, and The Young at Heart Senior Adult Group. She was a member of the Hightower Funeral Home Family, having served for many years on the visitation team, ministering to grieving families, until her health began to fail. She was also a member of The Circle of Friends, a widow support group sponsored by Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Thigpen; a daughter, Martha Thigpen Roddenberry; and a brother, Bill Davis.

Survivors include her children, Mike and Sheron Thigpen of Waynesboro, Georgia, Sherry Kierbow of Carrollton, Barry and Debbie Thigpen of Carrollton, and Alicia and Mark Crawford of Bowdon; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 13, at 3 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Dr. Doug New officiating. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Members of her Sunday School Class and members of the Circle of Friends will be seated as honorary pallbearers. Burial will follow in the Tyus Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. John Lemmings presiding. The family will receive friends at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Building Fund or to your favorite charity of choice.
