Mrs. Mary Katherine “Kaye” Hinton Plunkett, age 92, of Conyers, Georgia, died Monday, April 17, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Hubert Plunkett, married 48 1/2 years.

She is survived by daughter, Norma Plunkett; son, John and Shirley Wallace Plunkett; grandson, John Andrew Plunkett; son, James and Carla Plunkett; grandson, James William Plunkett Jr.; granddaughter, Layla Joy Plunkett Humphries of Birmingham, Alabama; son, Joe and Karen Plunkett; grandsons, Kenneth Franklin Plunkett and Davis Scott Plunkett of Raleigh, North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Hailey Anna Plunkett, Keelyn Rose Plunkett.

She was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and was salutatorian of her graduating class in 1942 of 117 seniors. She attended Bowling Green Business University, now Western University, and was a bookkeeper working for General Electric Co. prior to her marriage in 1948 and moving to Conyers.

Mrs. Plunkett was a member of First Baptist Church of Lithonia since 1948 and in the Joy Sunday School Class, Young at Heart and active in missions having been WMU President 1964-68, WMU Director 1968-70, and 1974-76 then Stone Mountain Baptist Association WMU Director 1967-69 and 1971-72.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 21, 2017, at 12 p.m. at Scot Ward’s Green Meadow Chapel with Dr. Jim Martin officiating; interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Hillandale Memorial Gardens.

Family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
