Mr. Odies Eugene Motes, 91, of Temple, Georgia, died Tuesday, January 30, 2018.

Mr. Motes was born in the New Georgia community on October 30, 1926, son of the late Marvin Jasper Motes and Mary Owen Motes. He was an auto mechanic with Georgia Highway Express. He was Baptist and a member of Cooper Lake Baptist Church in Cobb County. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Juanita McClain Motes; children, David Motes (Angeline), Temple, Deborah Fain, Blue Ridge, Georgia, Doug Motes (Joyce), Fitzgerald, Georgia, Janice Sanders, Woodstock, Georgia, Jane Blanton, Meansville, Georgia; stepson, James McCloud; sister, Madeline Hood, Powder Springs, Georgia; 16 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Motes; sisters, June Wheeler, Betty Anglin; and grandson, Tony Shane Motes Sr.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, February 3, at 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs, Georgia, with David Motes, Bailey Motes, Alan Brock, and Christopher Laughlin serving as pallbearers.
