Mr. Oscar “Virgil” Hembree, 75, of Villa Rica, Georgia, Flat Rock community, died Friday, October 14, 2016.

Mr. Hembree was born in Douglas County, Georgia, on January 12, 1941, the son of the late Hugh Dorsey Hembree and Linnie Faye Mayfield Hembree. He was a master carpenter and co-owner of Hembree Brothers Construction Company for many years. He was a member of LifeGate Church in Villa Rica, Georgia.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Janie Whitworth Hembree; daughter, Kim Hembree, Villa Rica, Georgia; daughters and sons-in-law, Kristy and Joey McCord, Villa Rica, Georgia, Dawn and Stan Gay, Villa Rica, Georgia, Danette and Barry Camp, Villa Rica, Georgia; son, Leon Allen II; son and daughter-in-law, Robie and Talena Hembree, Ballground, Georgia; brothers, Stanley Hembree, Bremen, Georgia, Tim and Lamar Hembree, Villa Rica, Georgia, Bobby Hembree, Beverly Hills, Florida; sisters, Malinda Hembree Camp, Villa Rica, Georgia, Vicky Hembree Caldwell, Temple, Georgia, Cindy Hembree Samples, Sandhill community, Gail Hembree McGee, Carrollton, Georgia; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Rudene Hunter, and brother, Charles Hembree.

Family received friends at the funeral home Sunday, October 16, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Funeral services were at LifeGate Church in Villa Rica on Monday, October 17, at 1 p.m. with the Revs. Tony Ashmore, Tony Sherrill and Robie Hembree officiating.

Burial followed the service at Glen Memorial Cemetery in the Flat Rock Community with Daniel McCord, Joseph McCord, Christopher Hembree, Cameron Hembree, Michael Cline, Jesse Corley and Shane Allen serving as pallbearers.
