Pauline (Polly) Morris Tyson, 87, of Covington, Georgia, formerly of Carrollton, died December 31, 2017, at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle, Georgia.
She was born in Douglasville, Georgia, on August 27, 1930, the daughter of the late Abner Morris and the late Mary Lou Grimes Morris. She was a graduate of Douglas County High School, was captain of her basketball team and was third honor graduate of her class. She worked for Equifax Credit Bureau for more than 25 years and was a dedicated and loving homemaker, wife and mother. She lived her entire lifetime in the Douglas and Carroll County area until 2009 when she moved to Covington to be nearer her daughter. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Villa Rica and was very active in the church as long as her health permitted.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Lamar Tyson, on September 9, 2002.
Survivors include her children, William Kirk Tyson of Carnesville, Georgia, Robert Keith Tyson of Carrollton and Nancy K. Carithers and her husband, Frank, of Covington; two grandchildren, Joshua Tyson and Holly Tyson of Memphis, Tennessee; a great-grandson, Bentley Tyson of Memphis, Tennessee; two sisters-in-law, Marie Daniel of Villa Rica and Helen Weems and her husband, Larry, of Lithia Springs; four brothers-in-law, Herman Tyson of Carrollton, Marvin Tyson and his wife, Liz, of Carrollton, Hubert Tyson and his wife, Linda, of Temple and Kenney Tyson of Carrollton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, January 4, 2018, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 4, 2018, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of the J. Hoyt Thomas Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Powell officiating. Interment will follow in Melrose Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Paulding County.
