Mrs. Tommie Lou Batchelor, age 97, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017. She was born April 6, 1920, in Bowdon, Georgia, the daughter of the late John Thomas Cole and the late Melissa Green Cole.

She was a graduate of Bowdon High School. Following her graduation she married the love of her life, Gerald Ray Batchelor, to whom she was married 6o years. She and Gerald enjoyed square dancing and were a part of a cultural exchange allowing them a chance to perform in Russia; they also enjoyed golf together and spending time at their home in Daytona Beach.

She was an avid gardener whose civic interest included memberships in the Junior Women’s Club, Civic Women’s Club, and the Tanner Medical Center’s Pink Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a lifelong member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Ray Batchelor; son, Charles Ray Batchelor and six sisters.

Survivors include her son, Dr. C.A. Batchelor and his wife, Willene, of Bremen; daughter, Melissa Hammond of Pointe Vedra Beach, Florida; grandchildren: Holly Bayman, Suzanne Robinson (Danny), Cal Batchelor (Heather), Meri Suddeth (Mike) and Sam Duffey (Amy); great-grandchildren, Charlie Robinson, Ansley Batchelor, Scout Suddeth, Jackson Robinson, Lucy Batchelor, Thomas Bayman, and Olvia Duffey.

Services will be conducted Sunday, December 3, 2017, at 12:30 p.m. from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Bro. Mike Halstead officiating. Those serving as pallbearers will Charlie Robinson, Scout Suddeth, Jackson Robinson, Cal Batchelor, Sam Duffey, Danny Robinson, Gil Jones and Mike Suddeth. Interment will follow in Bowdon City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral on Sunday from 11:30 AM until the hour of service.
