The Carrollton High School junior-varsity football team ran away with a 48-7 road win at New Manchester on Thursday evening in Douglasville to improve to 4-0 on the season.
The Trojans opened the scoring on a 46-yard touchdown pass from Andy Smith to Nick Cade and Maxim Spruell's PAT made it a 7-0 affair early.
Smith hit Jake Musselwhite on a 20-yard touchdown pass and then found Jacob Horton on the two-point conversion for the 15-0 advantage, which held until halftime.
Carrollton busted the game open in the second half, as Tristen Allen hooked up with Musselwhite on a 15-yard touchdown and Connor Smith-McCrum nailed the PAT for a 22-0 lead.
From there, the Trojans found the end zone again on Auburn Brewer's 25-yard interception return for a score and a two-point conversion run by Allen. New Manchester scored its lone touchdown on a kickoff return, but the Trojans answered with touchdown runs of nine yards and one yard by Josh Ingram and closed out the scoring on a 30-yard pick-six by Jermaine Reid.
Eddie Prather and Virgil Brewer had fumble recoveries for the Carrollton defense.
The Trojans are off next week before playing Rome on Oct. 6.

Carrollton 9th grade 34, New Manchester 0: The Trojans (4-0) had a pair of touchdown runs from Cody Brewer, while Nick Tuggle threw a 50-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Williams and a 20-yard strike to Brandon Marenco and Kenny Towns added a touchdown run.
The defense was led by Towns, Travis Lockhart and Austin Waldrop.
Carrollton is off next week.
Carrollton Junior High 27, Haralson County 0: The Trojans (5-0) delivered their fourth shutout on the season and have allowed just six points through five games.
Offensively, Jerius Edwards scored the first touchdown and Preston Gentry tacked on the PAT. Carrollton quarterback Terrell Carmichael then connected on touchdown passes of 30 yards to David Johns, 60 yards to Zaylin Cook and six yards to Eli Runyun.
The Trojans travel to Villa Rica next Thursday.
Central 9, Troup 0: The Lady Lions (19-4, 10-1 Region 5-AAAA) got a two-hit shutout from Emily Williams in the circle with 18 strikeouts, while Lucy Grace McKenzie and Abbey Cook both homered in the contest.
Carrollton 12, Hiram 1 (5 innings): The Lady Trojans (14-7, 10-2 Region 7-AAAAA) got hits from everybody in the lineup, including a pair of home runs from Savannah Cook.
Rounding out the multiple hitters were Aslinn Spradlin (3-for-4, 3 runs, 3 RBI), Ansley Barge (3-for-3, 2 runs, 2 RBI), Montana Dallas (3-for-3, run, RBI), Carlie Monsour (2-for-4) and Cook (2-for-4, 2 HR).
Spradlin yielded one run on two hits in the circle with nine strikeouts.
Hiram JV 5, Carrollton 4: The Lady Trojans closed out the season with the one-run setback, as Blaklee Waldrop (2-for-2, 2 2B) led the offense, while Casey Franklin, Angelina Nieto, Cassadi Walker and Sydney Pryor all scored runs for Carrollton. Walker fanned two in the circle.
Carrollton Junior High 3, Bremen 2: Kate Albertus earned the complete-game victory in the circle, while also going 2-for-3 at the plate.
Kylee Robertson (3-for-3) and Sophia Sippola (2-for-3) also had multiple-hit efforts for Carrollton.
The Temple High School volleyball team improved to 5-0 in area play behind a 2-1 victory over Lamar County on Thursday night, rebounding from a 25-19 setback in the first set by winning the last two in 25-12 and 25-13 decisions.
