The Mount Zion High School boys' basketball team boosted its postseason hopes with a 62-54 overtime win over Darlington on Tuesday night in Rome.

The Eagles (10-11, 4-6 Region 6A-A) used a late 3-pointer from senior guard T.J. Cagle to tie the game and force overtime, and they controlled the extra period to pull out the road win.

Cagle and Iaan "Mike Mike" Cousin scored 17 points apiece to lead the offense, while C.J. Ackles scored 11 in his return to the lineup and Tyriese Farley added 10.

Darlington girls 56, Mount Zion 31: The Lady Eagles (1-20, 1-9) were led by Kirsti Rogers with 12 points, while Cassidy Brown and Jana Crews each scored six points.

In other prep basketball action from Tuesday:

Temple boys 49, Callaway 40: The Tigers (10-11, 6-3 Region 5-AA) earned a big region triumph over the Cavaliers, using a 27-point performance from senior guard Javin Boles, while Solomon Jacobson added eight points.

No. 6 Villa Rica girls 62, Paulding County 19: The Lady Wildcats (18-1, 13-1 Region 7-AAAAA) rolled in the region road contest, getting 20 points from sophomore guard Aliyah Hindsman, while Tee Windom and Deasia Merrill added nine points apiece.

Calhoun girls 56, Bremen 54: The Lady Blue Devils (8-12, 2-9 Region 6-AAA) endured another heartbreaker in the two-point setback to the Lady Jackets.

Alyssa Taylor led Bremen with 20 points, while Morgan Cashen tallied 13 and Ashlynn Hodges finished with 10.

Bremen returns to action on Friday at rival Haralson County.

Oak Mountain girls 42, St. George's 24: Christian Pollard powered the Lady Warriors with 14 points, eight rebounds and five blocks, while Aubrey Wynn added nine points.

Oak Mountain boys 52, St. George's 40: The Warriors were led by freshman Zack Vavrik with 14 points, followed by Brian Bain with 13.
