A pair of county players were named to the Premier Girls Fastpitch All-American watch list. Alexander third baseman Gracyn Thrasher and Chapel Hill pitcher/utility player Ashley Morgan made the watch list for the Southeast region.

After getting of to a slow start in its last three games, Chapel Hill coach Chris Long was happy to see his team start fast in Friday’s first-round Class AAAA playoff game against Chestatee on the road.
A day after his team advanced to the second-round of the Class AAAAA playoffs, Lithia Springs coach David Mills called it “32 minutes” of basketball for his team.
In fending off the pesky Region 7-AAAAAA fourth-seed Pope Greyhounds, Douglas County did exactly what it took to advance to second round of the Class AAAAAA Tournament.

ATLANTA - Lithia Springs was unable to maintain an early lead as it fell 55-39 to Maynard Jackson in the Region 6-AAAAA Tournament championship game on Saturday.
LAGRANGE - Lisa Brown hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with a little more than a minute remaining in overtime, and Chapel Hill went on to claim a 66-62 victory over Troup in the third-place game in the Region 5-AAAA girls’ tournament on Saturday afternoon at LaGrange High.

Going up against a Mays team led by a player whose production is equal to two or three players, Douglas County used its defense and multiple ways of scoring to prevent Raider guard Kamiyah Street from nearly single-handedly winning the game, as the Tigers pulled a way to a 63-54 win.
Just weeks after capturing the Class AAAAAA Duals Championship, the Alexander Cougars program put the rest of the state on notice Saturday afternoon that they will be contenders for the traditional title as well.
