Lithia Springs is very familiar with its Class AAAAA first-round opponent.
The Lions open their best-of-three series with a doubleheader at Chamblee today.
Chamblee comes into the contest with a 20-5-1 record with that tie and a loss coming against the Lions, who are the 19-9-1 and the No. 3 seed from Region 6-AAAAA.
Beside trying to avenge that Sept. 23 loss to Lithia Springs, Chamblee also has another motivation coming into the 2 p.m. contest.
The Bulldogs can give third-year Coach Alan Loper his 50th career victory with a series win. The Lady Bulldogs have improved by four wins each of the last two season and the 20 wins this season is the most since a 22-8 year directed by Elizabeth Spaulding in 2001.
Here is a look at the other playoff games involving county teams.
Dalton at Alexander: The Cougars head back to the postseason as the Region 5-AAAAAA champs for the second straight year. The Ramblers, the fourth seed from Region 6-AAAA, are 17-10 overall. LaFayette is 4-9 in its last 13 games, including losing its last contest 6-2 to Ridgeland. Allatoona comes into the contest with a 21-6 record after having won its last five games. The Buccaneers finished the regular season as the Region 6-AAAAAA runner-up to Creekview. However, Allatoona defeated Creekview 6-4 in the winner’s bracket to advance to the region tournament finals. The Buccaneers got a come-from-behind win against Creekview in the finals for a 3-2 walk-off win to claim the region championship. The region championship was Allatoona’s second and its first since 2013 as a Class AAAAA program.
