Douglas County linebacker Braelen Oliver signed his National Letter of Intent with the Minnesota Gophers on Wednesday morning, the first day of the new early signing period.

Oliver had been committed to the Minnesota program sign July.

This past season, Oliver helped lead the Tigers to a 10-2 record and runner-up finish in Region 5-AAAAAA.  The Tigers reached the second round of the playoffs before being eliminated by Alpharetta.

Oliver was named the region player of the year after recording a team-leading 164 tackles including 14 tackles for loss and five sacks. He also had two interceptions and six pass deflections and returned two fumbles for touchdowns.

As a running back, he had 356 yards of offense with five touchdowns. He has a 3.6 core grade-point average.
