Chapel Hill had five players to make the All-Region 5-AAAA soccer team.
Panthers junior Brandi Peterson was named the region player of the year by the region coaches. This past season, Peterson scored a team-high 41 goals to help lead the Panthers into the Class AAAA semifinals.
Hannah Asbell of LaGrange was named the region’s defensive player of the year.
Peterson also finished with a team-leading 25 assists as she started all 20 matches.
She played every minutes of each game, including scoring 10 game-winning goals.
Joining Peterson on the first-team junior Tierra Gilchrist and sophomore Makenna Warren.
Gilchrist was second on the team with 25 goals and four assists. She started 19 of the team’s 20 matches.
Warren, a center back, started 18 matches and took the majority of the team’s free and corner kicks. She scored seven goals and assisted with 12, with most coming from free kicks.
Kristin Beasley and Hannah Bricker were named to the all-region second team.
Beasley, a sophomore outside mid-fielder, scored nine goals and had 16 assist. She started 17 matches and played almost every minute.
Bricker, a senior outside backer, started all 20 matches and was counted on for her speed.
