Landmark sophomore cross country runner, 2013 1A Private State Champion and Douglas County native Kathryn Foreman competed in the 35th annual Foot Locker Championships National Finals in San Diego, Calif. on Dec. 14.
Foreman, who finished 32nd in the race, competed the 5K course at Morley Field-Balboa Park in a time of 18:35. Foreman raced for the South team, which finished third with 66 points.
Race conditions were ideal, with sunny skies throughout and the temperature reaching 65 degrees.
The Northeast took first in the national competition with 26 points, followed by the West (49), South, and Midwest (70).
Tessa Barrett, out of Waverly Penn., competed for the Northeast and placed first with a time of 17:16. Foreman was the highest Georgia placer in the girls race.
The Foot Locker Cross Country Championships is comprised of four regional 5K races, which took place across the country in the Midwest (Kenosha, Wis.), Northeast (Bronx, N.Y.), and South (Charlotte, N.C.) on Nov. 28, with the West (Walnut, Calif.) on Dec. 7, culminating in the National Finals over the weekend.
