Special Photo/Reggie Davis Douglas County juniors Mataio Soli, Dariyan Wiley and Josh Slay have all been selected to play in this week's Rising Senior All-Star Game.

Several local players will get an opportunity to showcase their talent the next couple weeks in all-star games.

About 14 players that played their high school football in the county have been selected to several all-star teams over the holiday break.

Ten players will play in this week Georgia Elite Classic all-star games, which has players in all four of the grade classification games.

Alexander senior Spencer Myers is the lone county player in the senior division game. Teammate Garrett Collins will play in the junior game.

Cougar teammates Bryson Irby (running back) and wide receiver Jalen Morgan will play in the sophomore game alone with Douglas County lineman Kyle Mann.

Four freshmen will get to play in the freshmen game including New Manchester teammates Teondre Carter (running back/defensive back), Horatio Fields (wide receiver) and Joemere Lashley (wide recover). Arthur Barnes, a wide receiver at Douglas County, will play in the freshmen game.

All three games will take place on Thursday at McEachern High in Cobb County.

Myers, an offensive linemen, will be joined teammates Chris Hand (offensive tackle), Mason Wood (quarterback) and Miciah Randolph (wide receiver) in the Florida vs. Georgia All-Star Game next month.

Team Georgia will host the Florida all-stars on Jan. 6 at Southern Crescent Stadium in Riverdale.

One of the biggest underclassmen all-star games taking place this week will be the Rising Senior Game in Macon. Douglas County juniors Josh Slay (linebacker), Dariyan Wiley (wide receiver) and Mataio Soli (defensive end) will participate in the game, which will be held on Saturday at Mercer Stadium.

The teams will practice in Atlanta the next three days before Saturday’s game. In addition to football, the Rising Senior Foundation host several seminars for the players that focus on recruiting, use of social media, finances, NCAA compliance and drug-free sports among other topics covered.

“This is a great experience for the players,” said Douglas County coach Johnny White, who will serve as defensive coordinator for one of the teams. “It is something that these players will remember and use for their life.”

In addition to White, Douglas County defensive coordinator Shawn Austin is coaching.  New Manchester coaches Myron Terry and Steve Robinson alone with Derrick Grant of Lithia Springs will coach in the all-star game.
