The Landmark cross country team competed in the annual Carrollton Orthopedic Clinic Invitational last weekend. The race was hosted on the State Championship course. A total of 69 teams from Georgia and the nearby states attended the major meet.

In the main female event of the evening, 20 teams competed in the Championship Race, with Landmark placing fourth with 168 points. Only one other Georgia team placed ahead of the Single-A private school, and that was 6A’s Northview High, which finished second with 97 points. Two Florida schools, Winter Park (95 points) and Holy Trinity (118) placed first and third respectively.

The Lady War Eagles were once again led by 2013 Foot Locker National Finalist, Kathryn Foreman. Foreman finished third overall with a time of 19:32.17. She placed behind Northview’s Lindsay Billings (18:32.04) and Winter Park’s Rafaella Gibbons (18:58.23).

Three Landmark girls placed in the top 10. Nicole Fegans finished seventh in a time of 19:51.30. Sarah Foreman finished eighth in a time of 20:01.98. All three girls currently live in Douglas County.

Mary Kellison Thorne placed 52nd overall in a time of 21:53.23. Rounding out the placers was Lindsey Biggar, who placed 98th with a time of 22:48.80.

The Landmark boys also competed at Carrollton, finishing 26th out of 28 teams in the Championship Race with 790 points. The team was led by Seth Cruver, who placed 125th with a time of 18:55.28. Also placing for the War Eagles were Austin Taylor (143rd, 19:16.93), Micah Burdette (169th, 20:15.69) and Mark Humphries (177th, 20:48.06).
