Landmark Christian High School cross country runners Kathryn Foreman and Nicole Fegans were honored Wednesday night by the Atlanta Track Club as being two of the top 20 female runners in the state. . Both standout competitors are Douglas County natives.
Foreman, a sophomore, was unstoppable this season. She finished 1st in the state in the Single-A Private classification with a tim elf 18:42.18. She was the number one female runner in all classifications this past season. Foreman received the Ray Buckley Award for Outstanding Female Cross Country Athlete.
Fegans, a freshman, also performed well this year in the state meet, placing fourth with a time of 19:39.00. She finished the season ranked 16th overall in all Georgia classifications.
Landmark was one of only two schools to place two runners in the top 20.
Both were named to the ATC 2013 All-Metro High School Cross Country Team.
Foreman recently competed in the Foot Locker Cross Country Championship South Regions and placed in the top 10 on a cold and overcast day, qualifying to compete against runners from the Northeast, Midwest and West Georgians in the National Finals on Dec. 14 in San Diego, Calif.
The Landmark runner finished eighth overall with a time of 17.19. Caroline Alcorta, of Springfield, Va. finished first with a time of 16:55. Foreman was the only runner from Georgia to qualify for Nationals.
