The Panthers and Lady Panthers of Chapel Hill opened region play in their new classification on Tuesday with a pair of losses at Hiram. The Chapel Hill girls fell to the Lady Hornets, 70-32. The CHHS boys lost, 67-44.
In the boys game, the Panthers trailed 16-9 after the first period and 31-19 at the break. They were down 45-28 at the end of the third period. Chapel Hill shot less than 20 percent from the field. They were 14-of-24 from the free throw line. Hiram went 19-for-23.
“This is the worst we have ever shot,” said CHHS boys coach Lee Wilson. “We did not play well on defense. It will be back to the drawing board.”
Information was not reported from the girls game. Chapel Hill will be back in action on Saturday when they host New Manchester.
