The local high school swimming teams have been busy at the start of the 2014-15 season with three meets.

The latest meet came on Nov. 21 and featured four schools, Douglas County, Lithia Springs, Alexander and North Atlanta. North Atlanta dominated the meet, taking first place in 17 of 22 races. Alexander took first in four events and Douglas County finished first in one race.

Alexander’s girls’ 200 yard medley relay team of Heather Leahey, Mackenzie Buck, Lindsay Dowling and Mackenzie Tanner took first place with a time of 2:09.58. Dowling also finished first in the girls 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.94 and the girls 100 yard backstroke in a time of 1:01.01. Buck finished first in the girls 100 yard breaststroke in a time of 1:20.31.

For Douglas County, Zach Camp finished first in the boys 100 yard backstroke in a time of 1:04.50.

On Nov. 14, a meet was held involving Chapel Hill, New Manchester, Alexander and Landmark Christian. AHS won the most races, finishing first in 13 of 22 events. Chapel Hill finished first in five races and Landmark placed first in three events. New Manchester had one first place finish.

The Alexander girls 200 yard medley relay team and girls 200 yard freestyle relay team of Leahey, Tanner, Dowling and Buck finished first with a time of 2:14.78 and 1:58.02 respectively. Leahey also finished first in the girls 200 yard freestyle in a time of 2:37.18 and the girls 100 yard backstroke in a time of 1:19.04. Dowling placed first individually in the girls 200 yard IM in a time of 2:17.74 and the girls 100 yard butterfly in a time of 1:02.37. Buck finished first in the girls 50 yard freestyle in a time of 26:44 and the girls 100 yard breaststroke in a time of 1:16.34.

Matthew Smith placed first in the boys 100 yard butterfly in a time of 1:32.74. Ian Burkes finished first in the boys 100 yard freestyle with a time of 57.40. Matt Leahey placed first in the boys 500 yard freestyle in a time of 6:57.72. Oda Dowlatpanah finished first in the girls 500 yard freestyle in a time of 9:18.01.

The boys 400 yard freestyle relay team of Cory Hedrick, Zachary Taylor, Ryan Taylor and Matt Leahey won in a time of 4:47.78.

For Chapel Hill, Joshua Thruston won the 200 yard IM in a time of 2:08.18 and the boys 100 yard breaststroke in a time of 1:04.72. Bryce Schneider placed first in the boys 50 yard freestyle in a time of 25:44. Hunter Walker finished first in the boys 100 yard backstroke in a time of 1:26.22.

The CHHS boys 200 yard freestyle relay team of Thurston, Bryce Schneider, Cameron Schneider and Sam Nokes finished first in a time of 1:45.74.

The Landmark boys 200 yard medley relay team of Jonathan Owens, Chris Brown, Ty Janyaem and Cole Franklin placed first in a time of 2:07.62. Ben Sandstrom finished first in the boys 200 yard freestyle in a time of 2:25.55. The girls 400 yard freestyle relay team of Jill Andriotty, Marleigh Fouts, Julia Hoover, and Rebecca Moody placed first in a time of 6:11.44.

New Manchester’s Megan Kulbacki placed first in the girls 100 yard freestyle in a time of 1:09.18.

On Nov. 7, Douglas County, New Manchester, Paulding County, South Paulding and Hiram all competed in a meet. DC dominated the meet with 13 first place finishes. South Paulding placed first in four and Hiram finished first in two events. New Manchester placed first in two races.

For Douglas County, the boys 200 yard medley relay team of Nicholas Scherer, Nicholas Carpenter, Zach Camp and Dominie Seales finished first in a time of 2:16.16. In the girls race, the team of Roda Kesete, Bridgette Fox, Elizabeth Farmer and Thunwa Klaihathai finished first in a time of 2:30:58.

Camp also placed first in the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 2:12.18 and the boys 100 yard butterfly in a time of 1:18.10. Sales finished first in the boys 200 yard IM in a time of 2:58.91. Farmer finished first in the boys 50 yard freestyle in a time of 2:45.72. Klaihathai finished first in the girls 50 yard freestyle in a time of 32.27.

Chance Hammond finished first in the boys 50 yard freestyle in a time of 21.63. Jackson Renner finished first in the 100 yard breaststroke in a time of 1:35.76.

The boys 200 yard freestyle relay team of Hammond, Scherer, Saeles and Camp finished first in a time of 1:55.47. The girls 200 yard freestyle relay team of Kesete, Farmer, Fox and Mallory Oslacky placed first in a time of 2:13.31.

The boys 400 yard freestyle relay team of Hammond, Renner, Carpenter and Samuel Adams finished first in a time of 4:57.58. The girls 400 yard freestyle relay team of Jacki Daniel, Savannah Todd, Kailyn Kinchelow, and Klaihathai finished first in a time of 5:39.68.

New Manchester’s Tyler Hoy finished first in the boys 100 yard freestyle in a time of 58.29. Lauren Hall placed first in the girls 100 yard backstroke in a time of 1:19.03.
