Alexander continued to dominate its opponents in head-to-head duals Thursday evening with a 66-18, Area 5-AAAAA victory at Villa Rica High School. The Cougars picked up six wins by pin fall against the Wildcats to push their duals record to 19-3.

London Dubroc (106-pounds), Austin Starnes (113), Bryce Hollomon (120), Matt Beske (160), Sam Allbritton (170), and Justin Beske (195) all picked up wins by pin. Torrance Saunders (132), Trevor Rose (145), Muhammad Ansari (182), Wesley Shepherd (220) and Daniel Kolivoski each won by forfeit.

Hollomon went up against tough completion at 120. His opponent placed second at the Allatoona Tournament this past weekend.

“Bryce was having no trouble with him,” said AHS coach Sean Moistner. “He is staying focused and putting his opponents away. He has 21 pins right now.”

The Cougars have a big test this weekend when they travel to Chattanooga, Tennessee to compete in the annual McCallie Invitational. The traditional style tournament brings in a lot of talent from all over the south. The Cougars will have a chance to meet two of their toughest opponents in their classification as well. Both Cambridge, last year’s 5A state champion, and Woodland, last year’s 5A runner-up, will be there, along with tough Tennessee schools such as McCallie and Baylor.

“We are excited to go up against good competition and to face teams we may see later in the year,” Moistner said.

The Cougars will have two of their top wrestlers back for the tourney. Both Roman Boylen (132) and Willy Dieckmann (152) have missed the last two meets due to an illness. Boylen, a two time state champion and three time finalist, is undefeated this season and won the 132-pound weight class at the recent Southern Slam in Greenville, South Carolina. That meet is one of the toughest in the Southeast.

Dieckmann, a transfer student, has been nearly as dominant since joining the team this year. He is a two time state placer.

Alexander has finished second in three big tournaments this season, which include the ALX Invitational, the Kennesaw Mountain Duals, and the Parkview Panther Duals. They won the County Championship, hosted by Chapel Hill, and finished fourth at the Southern Slam. AHS placed seventh at the McCallie Invitational last season.

The Cougars will wrap up the year with a head-to-head duals match at Kell High School on Tuesday, and then host the ALX Invitational on Dec. 27.
