File Photo Douglas County native and Landmark Christian eighth-grader Zack Truitt had a time of 10 minutes, 57.24 seconds to win the state middle school cross-country championship.

Zack Truitt ended his middle-school season as the top runner in the state.

The Douglasville native and Landmark Christian eighth-grader won the Georgia Middle School Cross Country Championship over the weekend in Cochran.

Truitt had a time of 10 minutes 57.24 seconds to win the small school division at the Bleckley County Elementary School course. The time was better than the competitors that won the large school and medium school titles.

In all, there were 550 competitors running in the three division to decided the middle school championship. Landmark didn’t have enough runner to factor into the team championship.

In addition to the championship, Truitt also broke the state middle school record with his time for a two-mile race.
