A large audience filled the pews and lined the walls at Mt. Prospect Baptist Church in Villa Rica on Saturday to listen to sound of the Thomas Dorsey Choir. There are 43 members in the choir, which is directed by Brenda Williams. The choir was formed in 1995 and has performed annually as part of the Thomas A. Dorsey Birthplace and Gospel Heritage Festival held in Villa Rica. Dorsey, who was born in Villa Rica, is known as the ‘Father of Gospel Music.’ He passed away in 1993.
