The Douglasville-Douglas County Water and Sewer Authority (WSA) unanimously approved a $52,861 purchase order Tuesday to move supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) radio monitoring equipment to the WSA maintenance facility on Strickland Street.

The action came at the regular 5:30 p.m. meeting of the WSA board of directors at the WSA conference room, 8763 Hospital Drive, Douglasville.

Turbitrol Company will move the equipment from the new South Central Wastewater Treatment Plant to the Strickland Street location.

“We had been planning to build a maintenance complex at the new plant,” Pete Frost, WSA executive director, said Wednesday. “However, because of budget constraints, we’re not going to be able to build it now. So all computers to monitor the SCADA system will be moved to the Strickland Street location.”

SCADA is a computerized system which allows WSA workers to remotely monitor levels and control equipment at the water and wastewater treatment plants around the county.

In other action, the board unanimously approved:

• purchase orders to various outside agencies to secure temporary and temporary-to-hire personnel services;

• agreements with various providers to provide health and welfare benefits programs for WSA employees;

• renewal of the annual preventive maintenance and service agreement for WSA vehicles and light duty trucks to Bright Star Tire and Alignment for $70,000;

• and $75,610 to Unity Construction Company, Inc. for emergency sewer line repairs at the Arbor Station Creek crossing.
