Douglas County Animal Services in partnership with the Douglas County Humane Society will be distributing pet food to those families who are struggling to feed their family pets.
Food distribution will occur on Monday, April 27, 2020 from 9 a.m. to noon or while supplies last.
Kennel Manager Vanessa Francikowski said they are cordoning off the parking lot to set up a drive thru situation so pet owners won’t have to get out of their vehicles.
“My staff and I will be wearing masks and gloves in an effort to execute safe, healthy practices and help those in need,” Francikowski said. “Each family in a vehicle will be given pet food and a pet pantry application to complete and send in for future assistance from the pet pantry.”
“We are asking the public in advance to please remain in their vehicles and a volunteer will load the food into your vehicle for you,” said Frances McMillan, director of animal services. “We are committed to keeping pet families together and we hope to continue to serve the public, one pet at a time.”
