Celebrating the 32nd Year in Douglasville, the Sweetwater Camera Club‘s first meeting of the New Year of 2020 was filled with the VISION of the club’s upcoming happenings. It was a full house of previous members and new comers interested in photography. The officers, Pam Steinbruck-Treasurer, Dawn Horrex-Secretary, Stella Spyrou-Vice President and President Janet Newton presented the first meeting of the year. Registration, rules, competitions, events, SWEET Socials, exhibits and outings were discussed followed by the member’s monthly print competition.
The January Photo Competition was “Eye(s).” Members were thinking “out of the box” with their images. In the Novice group, Liz Frazier took a picture of her own eye, Marge Frost, a quilt maker, used her sewing needles in the Advanced group, Glen Clark took a picture of his wife’s Bugeye Sprite car and Jerry Frost used a mannequins head wrapped with a scarf. They had a unique vision and all were ribbon winners. Greg Knobloch, an expert in photography, was the monthly judge.
Each month, club members have the opportunity to participate in photo competitions, earning points for entry and placement. Members in the Advanced group have experience with their cameras, honing their craft and continuing to learn new techniques in the taking and editing of their photographs. The Novice group may be iPhone users and/or new camera users and photo editing.
